Patrick is an experienced lighting designer for the theatre, and lighting director for concerts and touring shows. He is happy to work with whatever equipment is available in a venue, making the best of conventional fixtures and utilizing LEDs and intelligent fixtures when available. If time, and the scale of the project permits, he is ready to be the one who climbs the ladder himself, or he can manage a crew to see his vision realised.
He has a unique understanding of the need for a versatile light hang, having been the Technical Manager/Lighting Director for Red Deer’s largest soft-seat venue for 6 years (Red Deer Memorial Centre), and regularly designs the lighting for shows in repertory, or with a very short turn-around between them.
When he designs both the set and lighting for a production, it is always on his mind how one element can augment the other. He is known to be a forward thinker and to have the big picture in check. He works well under pressure while maintaining his composure and an air of calm, collected, frankness around him.
Patrick works successfully with students, community theatre members of all ages and experience, and the crews of large touring shows.
